Good ethics are simply good business. In light of that reality, more and more organizations are putting time and energy into perfecting their compliance and ethics practices and procedures.

Especially in the electronics and high-technology sectors, there are some excellent examples of organizations that have built stellar reputations and have built their business as a result.

“Over the last 12 years, we have repeatedly seen that those companies who focus on transparency and authenticity are rewarded with the trust of employees, customers, and investors. While negative headlines might grab attention, the companies who support the rule of law and operate with decency and fair play around the globe will always succeed in the long term,” Timothy Erblich, CEO of the Ethisphere Institute said in a written statement.

For a dozen years now, the Ethisphere Institute has annually recognized those companies that have made their mark on global society by paying attention to corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance, and ethics. The 2018 World’s Most Ethical Companies report identified 135 companies spanning 23 countries and 57 industries.

“In 2017, we saw a profound change in the discourse around the world, but as part of that disruption we also saw global companies emerge as society’s leading voice to advance the human condition,” Ethisphere reported.

Organizations in the high-tech sector, including defense, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, automotive, and more, were well represented on the list. The awards were based on the following criteria:

Ethics and compliance program (35%)
Corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%)
Culture of ethics (20%)
Governance (15%)
Leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).

- Té un factor d'impacte de 3.844 (toma ya!) i està a Q1 (10 de 47 en Engineering, Environmental i 24 de 223 en Environmental Sciences)
- SI ho plantegem bé, crec que un article nostre entra.

Educating for environmental sustainability and educating for creativity: actively compatible or missed opportunities?

Abstract

This paper identifies the importance of both creativity and environmental sustainability for developing individual learners and society as a whole. It suggests that sometimes these two concepts appear to be in tension and that, politically, each is often championed by different communities. The relationship between creativity and environmental sustainability is explored in three separate contexts: in a design and technology schools context where teenage learners are being facilitated to develop creative responses within design briefs that include environmental considerations; through interviewing student teachers who have undertaken an ecodesign project; and through interviews with professional ecodesign practitioners. The tensions, compromises and contradictions evident where there is limited experience of environmental issues is contrasted with the level of optimisation and creativity engaged when designers have more maturity in this area. Finally, some suggestions are made for taking forward creativity and environmental sustainability in technology education through an ecodesign capability approach.
